Adam Welstead is the University of Cambridge鈥檚 Head of Student Wellbeing. His professional experience and specialist interests are in cognitive behavioural therapies, mental health and suicide-safer strategy, communications and wellbeing in education.

Prior to Cambridge, Adam spent his career at the University of St Andrews. There he was awarded a University of St Andrews 600th Anniversary Doctoral Fellowship, which supported his thesis research and teaching. Following the completion of his PhD, Adam developed a career in mental health support, strategic development and service leadership at St Andrews. He completed his postgraduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on the NHS South of Scotland CBT Programme at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. He maintains a strong interest in CBT research and evidence-based practice, particularly in the areas of low self-esteem, social anxiety and depression.

At Cambridge, Adam鈥檚 purpose is to design, lead, and continuously improve preventative approaches to student mental health and wellbeing. He leads the University鈥檚 Student Wellbeing Service and works closely with colleagues across Cambridge on the strategic delivery of our Collegiate University鈥檚 Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan.

Adam was elected to the Fellowship at 明星黑料 in 2023. He shares the College鈥檚 deep commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion, and its passion for dynamic, outward-facing education and research.
