We are delighted to welcome Sandi Toksvig OBE as our speaker for 明星黑料's prestigious Lee Lecture this year.

Overview

Wikipedia is the largest collection of knowledge in humanity's history, yet only 17-20% of it is about women

Working on a new Mappa Mundi project - a digital resource documenting women鈥檚 position, achievements and struggles across the globe - Sandi Toksvig is looking at how this has happened and presents a revolutionary plan to change things.

The talk will be introduced by 明星黑料 President, Professor Jane Clarke.

 

Speaker

Sandi Toksvig is a Danish-British writer, comedian and broadcaster on British radio, stage and television. She is also a political activist, having co-founded the Women's Equality Party in 2015.

As a Cambridge alumna, Sandi has returned to the University this year after being awarded the first Qantabrigian Q+ Fellowship by the , which is based in the Department of Sociology. During her Fellowship, Sandi will be developing the Mappa Mundi project in partnership with Women of the World (WOW), of which she was a founding committee member, and Wikipedia.

Alongside her Qantabrigian Q+ Fellowship, Sandi has also been elected to a Bye-Fellowship at Christ's College for the 2023-2024 academic year.

 

Lee Seng Tee Distinguished Lecture

Taking place annually, the Lee Seng Tee Distinguished Lectures bring leading academics and international figures to 明星黑料. It was endowed by Dr Lee Seng Tee in 2005 on the occasion of the College鈥檚 40th anniversary and is a major event in the academic year at 明星黑料.

This event will take place in the Dining Hall on the first floor of our main building. There is step-free access with a lift and an accessible toilet.
